Bukit Tengah ADUN- More Police Officers Required

Bukit Tengah- The State Assemblymen of Bukit Tengah, YB Tuan Gooi Hsiao Leung hopes the Federal Government increases the number of police officers in the Bukit Tengah Police Station due to its large administrative area. The area of Bukit Tengah covers 57.6 km per sq.ft, yet the total number of police officers stationed here are only 62 people. The State Assemblymen said that the number of police officers here is much lesser compared to the Pulau Tikus Police Station where a total of 170 officers are in duty for an area of only 5.7 km per sq.ft. "I hope that the the number of officers would be increased to accommodate the size and the area of the Bukit Tengah, while upgrading the police station from grade C to grade B to ensure that the number of police officers can be increased to more than 100" "I also hope that the infrastructural problems and facilities in the Bukit Tengah Police Station, the Community Police Station and 'pondok polis' could be given serious attention by the government" He said this during his visit to the Bukit Tengah Police Station yesterday. However, despite the police officers stationed in Bukit Tengah are very less, he feels proud that the they are not being reluctant from continuing to serve the people. "The lack of police officers is not a challenge or hurdle for them to enforce activities to prevent crimes from happening." "Statistics shows that the crime rate in Bukit Tengah has successfully been reduced by 17.38 % in 2018 compared to year 2017, and this is a great development and I hope that the crime rate will continue to fall in the future" The visit from the State Assemblymen was welcomed by the Chief Police of Bukit Tengah Police Station, Inspector Ahmad Hamzah Kasdi along with other police officers in that station. Traffic Congestion in Bukit Tambun

Bukit Tambun- These are images of the aerial view of the heavy traffic congestion that happens at Jalan Batu Kawan and Jalan Bukit Tambun. Our team visited the area and found out that the congestion could cause a delay upto 35 to 45 minutes, sometimes even longer. The same concerns where shared by YB Tuan Goh Choon Aik, State Assemblymen of Bukit Tambun on his Facebook account expressing his regrets on the traffic congestion that causes problems in many ways for his constituents in Bukit Tambun. Everyone including people travelling to work, parents sending their children off to school or even emergency cases are burdened by being stuck in this traffic almost everyday for the past year. Lack of planning to overcome this traffic problem by the relevant authorities are one of the reasons. Here, SPT News requests the JKR, MPSP and State-level officials to get involved in this issue to find a long-term solution to this uprising problem. • Dengue Plague In SPT

    Dengue Plague In SPT

Batu Kawan- The alarming increase of mosquitoes in residential areas seem to be worrying the people, especially when the presence of Aedes mosquitoes could subsequently result in dengue fever. The number of dengue cases are hiking as days go on, Taman Desa Damai had over 60 cases just before the new year, while Kebun Sireh had 48 cases last year alone. Taman Limau Manis is also facing such situation, where mosquitoes are almost everywhere and no resident are able to do anything about it. Such worrying numbers only shows us one thing, that we as a community aren't doing enough. Local authorites such as the MPSP, the SPT Health Department and local neighbourhood councils should do more. Locating dengue prone areas and conducting fogging and 'gotong-royong' could possibly reduce the number of mosquitoes from time to time. However, this must be done repeatedly and not just once. Keeping our neighbourhood clean is very crucial as littered rubbish could hold rain water, which would then allow the mosquitoes to lay their eggs. One thing that we should all remember is that the people should not merely put the blame on the authorities, the residents are to be blamed as well. The residents must be aware of the consequence of failing to act responsibly as it is our duty not just to participate in the efforts to curb the dengue plague, but to always act responsibly in preventing such situation to arise in the first place. SPT News will continue to liasse with the relevant authorities but we plead the people to do what is required to stop this alarming epidermic. Our negligence may cost the lives of our family and our loved ones. This is one of the moments where we will have to act together as a community to save ourselves from such occurence. We should all act together to face the coming danger, or should I say the danger is already here. Together as a Community!!!
